Cookin' Cowgirl

My earliest memory of cooking, would be standing on a step stool at my grandmother's stove, learning to fry an egg... I was probably about 6 years old.

I've had a passion for cooking my whole life.

Growing up in rural Ohio, I was surrounded by great cooks. My parents (Dad loves to cook!) Grandmothers, Aunts, Great Aunts... I learned something from each of them.

As an adult, I've lived all over the country. Every place I've lived, I have been lucky enough to make the aquaintance of great cooks, who were willing to share their knowledge with me.

For 14 years I ran a successful concession business, which fueled a need in me, to want to feed everybody that I came in contact with...

Thank God for my kids, my son in particular, who have always been in the kitchen with me. It was not unusual, on any given Sunday, to have a houseful of friends "drop by" just before suppertime! Believe me, it's nice to have had kids that understood food service!

Nursing is how I make my living. My hobbies include fishing, working with horses (ergo "Cookin' Cowgirl"), and spending as much time in the woods refreshing my soul as I can. Foraging in the woods, is a great way to find interesting things to cook!

I spend much of my free time experimenting with new recipes, and re-working all of my old ones, into low/no fat dishes. These are what I will share with you, along with kitchen tips, and some food safety reminders.

I hope you enjoy!
